Aveleen has just celebrated her first birthday .... so I guess it is time for an update! She is now 18 lbs, starting to pull herself up and is going to need a leash soon, as she is way too curious for her own good!
In celebration of her birthday we enjoyed "long life" noodles -- which you are supposed to eat without biting through the noodles to guarantee a long life. Perfect for messy eaters!
We also let Aveleen, as per Chinese custom on a fist birthday, choose her future profession by spreading out various items in front of her and waiting to see which she would pick up first. She chose a thermometer, which is supposed to indicate a job in the medical profession. Her second choice was a silver dish which is supposed to indicate future wealth. Sooooo are we looking at a wealthy doctor-to-be?!? Or did anyone notice Dad pushing the silver dish into range and rubbing the thermometer with carrot cake to make it more appealing???
Family and a couple of playmates came for a piece of cake on the weekend... some ate it, some played with it ... but it was enjoyed by all! Aveleen says "thanks" to everyone for the nice gifts and the good company. Then it was back to the life of an average one year old .... licking all the newly discovered pinecones uncovered by the melting snow and melting her parents' hearts. Happy birthday sweetie!
