Last night we headed downtown to the Jardin Botanique, where they are currently having an exhibit called "The Magic of Lanterns" in the Chinese garden. It was absolutely beautiful! It runs from September 8th to October 31st and if you live in the area but haven't seen it yet, we highly recommend a visit!
There must have been a thousand lanterns all lit up throughout the Chinese gardens, pagodas and on the lake. Chinese music was being played and we enjoyed sesame balls and jasmin tea while marveling at the lanterns and thanking our lucky stars that we have such a wonderful connection to China .... and live in such a great city where so many cultures are celebrated!

Your sweetie let you sit long enough to eat sesame balls and drink a cup of tea?! Wow! We'd have to tag team to accomplish that :-).
Dawn
Fantastic pictures, I think that is where we are heading to next month with Julie and Doris.
Great photos! We are going on the 6th. Can't wait! You just made me even more excited to go.
Keep smilin!
Sounds like you need to invest in some duct tape, Dawn! ;)
And where did I say that we had a chance to sit?!?!? Can't remember how!!
Wow - what a beautiful exhibit! The pictures are wonderful!
Great pictures of what must have been even more fabulous lanterns. How were they lit? Wonder how they were lit traditionally - by candle? Aveleen, you look as if you were taking it all in your stride - just another example of a triumph of Asian culture. "We're been doing this for thousands of years!"
Much love from Nai nai.
